When it comes to looking at ourselves we sometimes do not
see what others may see regarding the things that go on in our lives or the
things we habitually do. And sometimes we can be in our mess so long that we
begin to believe the lie and not see what others see.
In their own eyes they
flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin. Psalm 36:2
From a perspective of self-examination, something we as
Christians should be doing daily, we must take a serious look at our progress
or lack thereof in our aspirations to attain the characteristics of Christ. Flattery can be a dangerous thing if
left unchecked. It’s defined as an unrealistic favorable impression of. In
other words, it can be looked upon as excessive and insincere compliments. So
when we listen to excessive and insincere impressions of ourselves we fall prey
to being unable to determine or dislike sin; we grow insensitive to the move
and nudging of the Holy Spirit. Fearing God will get us back on the right track!
Do you see what I see?
