The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Proverbs 17:27
Have you ever been in the company of someone who is easily disturbed by the least little things. And often in conversations you may hear them say, "that made me mad," or "you know he got on my nerves?" At some point, if that is us, we need to look within to determine if there's an anger issue gone unchecked. The spirit of anger causes us to look at others and believe they're the ones with the problem, when all along the problem resides in us. If we're unable to use our words without restraint and we're lashing out at people, then there's a lack of professed or applied knowledge from the Word of God. The Scripture goes on to say, understanding shows up when we're even-tempered.
If we say we belong to Christ and are His representatives, then we must show forth a level of restraint and be even-tempered when conversing with others. There is no reason for a Christian to be nasty, ABSOLUTELY no reason at all! When you feel the pressures of the day coming upon you, take a moment, breath in, exhale out, and then respond with knowledge and understanding. Besides, we never know what kind of day the other person may be having as well. Don't they deserve a lil grace sent their way?
