Fulfilled

Oftentimes people look for fulfillment in things that give them a temporary thrill. Although their minds aren’t fixed on the length of fulfillment, they persist in being happy for the moment!

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 NIV

This Scripture was penned when David was in the desert (a dry place). David was longing for companionship and fulfillment. Fulfillment is directly related to our character and our character should be directly related to Christ. When we, the people of God, are happy, we are happy not as a result of what we have, but as a result of who we are. The things related to this earth are dry and indeed of a parched land, but the things related to Christ are eternal and flow with living water.

Are you seeking fulfillment in things or are you longing to be fulfilled by your God?

  1. Too often I have looked for fulfillment in others, not necessary things. I was looking to be fulfilled by my spouse, family and friends, but would become disappointed. For many years, I felt lost and alone in my marriage, expecting for my spouse to "fulfill" me, but that didn't happen. I looked to my family and friends to help me to feel loved, wanted, or needed, but that to was "temporary". I have been physically alone for a little over a year and I have struggled a little bit with the desire to have someone to love me, but I do and HE is our Lord and Savior. I have found myself sitting all alone in my home but feeling the peace of our Lord. He does fulfill me, not the things or the people that I once longed for. I am so thankful to GOD for HIS presence in my life. I do have those moments when I desire a relationship, someone to hold me, someone I could talk with, but it is only for a moment because I have someone to talk with and HE loves me unconditionally. HE has brought me such a long way and I will continue to seek HIM every day.
